The Progel microgel, based on the calcium alginate gel system, is a widely studied system with proven benefits in pharmaceuticals, food and nutraceuticals. In the stomach, encapsulation protect against denaturation and deactivation by gastric enzymes and the low pH environment.
Controlled intestinal release
Progel microgels are designed to breakdown and release its contents in the intestinal environment. The rate of release is tuneable based on processing parameters.

Probiotic viability is notoriously difficult to maintain in finished products. Encapsulation offers significant improvement in viability of probiotics over the product shelf life.
